Studio Portrait

We, professional photographers, will take individual and family portraits at the "Miyama Photo Studio" attached to Casa Miyama.

1 Photo Session + 1 Print:
  • 5x7" size (127 x 178mm)

    • *Printed on a glossy photo paper.

*Photography will be done on the day of check-in, so please check-in at 15:00 as much as possible. Photos will be handed in the next day when you check out. If the photo is taken on the day of check-out, it will be mailed later to you (postage not included).

Japanese Veranda Portrait

How about taking a group photo with your friends and family who stayed together at Casa Miyama's famous veranda? As professional photographers, we will make a memorable picture for your stay in Casa Miyama.

1 Photo Session + 1 Print:

    • *Printed on handmade Japanese paper. Please enjoy the calm texture of Japanese paper, which is different from ordinary photographic paper.

Original Handmade Paulownia Box Frame (OPTIONAL):
  • For A5 size: 4,500 yen (4,950 yen including tax)
  • For A4 size: 6,000 yen (6,600 yen including tax)
    • *Place the print on the "floating clogs" and mount it so that the photo appears to float in the paulownia box. The price includes the mounting fee. Since it comes with a back support, it can be displayed as it is. Or you can cover and store. The paulownia box handmade by craftsmen in Kyoto protects your photos from humidity and dryness.

  • A5 size: 3,000 yen (3,300 yen including tax)

* Shooting will be done immediately after check-in. If you use this service, please check in at 15:00. In winter, after 16:30, it will be impossible to take pictures on the veranda. Photos will be handed in the next day when you check out. In case of rain or snow, the photo will be taken inside the house at tatami room.

Gelatin Silver Photo Portrait

We photograph with a medium format camera that is larger than a normal camera (film is also larger than normal). From developing the film to printing, we do it all by hand in our darkroom. 100% handmade. We will hand in museum-quality gelatin silver prints that will not fade for over 100 years. We will shoot at "Miyama Photo Studio" attached to Casa Miyama.

Wet Plate Portrait

Wet plate photography was invented in England in 1851, when film did not yet exist. A glass plate (Ambro type) or an aluminum plate (Tin type) is coated with chemical solution and a photograph is taken. It is a single photo in the world that cannot be replicated. We will shoot at "Miyama Photo Studio" attached to Casa Miyama.

Polaroid Transfer Portrait

We will take a portrait with a Polaroid camera and transfer the Polaroid image to Japanese paper. The result is a photo that looks like a painting. The Polaroid film used for this technique has been discontinued, and once the film is no longer available in the world, it will never be possible to shoot using this technique again. Why don't you have your picture taken before this Polaroid film disappears from the world?
